Editor's Note: Latest Designs and New Destinations
The week in news has brought us insights from across a spectrum of new and revolutionary designs to industry movements and some of the most inspiring charter diaries in the world, and it all started with a drone video taken straight from the deck of St. David.
Superyacht St. David’s trip through the Corinth Canal was the start to the week that inspired what can only be described as wanderlust. We spoke to Captain Jean Marc Bitouzet, who described a month of journeys that led the team to the visually striking crossing and beyond.
Updates surrounding the French Polynesian region kept the wanderlust up, with Cygnus Montanus - the recently launched 32m Yachting Developments sailing yacht - heading to Tahiti, and the 62m sailing yacht Vertigo opening up a new charter schedule in the stunning South Pacific region with Y.CO.
The brokerage house overseeing Vertigo also provided us with some exciting new imagery surrounding charter yacht Flying Dragon, available in the West Mediterranean, putting the distinctive decaled Dragon in a new light.
Today’s top story came from the design studio and build collaboration of Pieter Van Geest and Oceanco, providing a deeper insight into a project I am personally very excited about. Moonstone was unveiled to the world at the Dubai Yacht Show earlier this year, and more information today came to light about the amazing possibilities of each innovation on board.
Industry movements this week took the form of a big announcement from Feadship, as Jan-Bart Verkuyl takes a new position within the Royal van Lent shipyard as CEO. Dick van Lent, who offered his services to the Dutch custom yacht builder for over forty years, will remain in an advisory role while Verkuyl oversees an exciting future.
Another major industry movement surrounds the Palmubo Group, who this week announced the acquisition of ISA Yachts after a confirmation and acceptance announcement from the court of Ancona.
Gulf Craft also launched a new superyacht named Ghost II, the second superyacht from the Majesty 122 superyacht range, bringing a sleek and stealthy new yacht to the prolific yacht builder’s portfolio.
You can read about each story by following the hyperlinks, but in the meantime I’m looking forward to keeping the updates coming with new features and updates as the months count down to the Monaco Yacht Show.
