Editor's Note: Delving Deeper into Design & Destination

The second edition of the Porto Montenegro MYBA Pop-Up Superyacht Show is set to open in September. With two months to go before I hop on a flight to see it first hand, I spoke to Fiona Maureso (President of MYBA) to get a better idea of how the organisers are stripping back the idea of the charter and sales show to bring it back to its roots.

This look into the second edition of the show hinted at a more successful year than the modest start it received; to use the word modest lightly.

Around 30 yachts and 50 brokers were in attendance to mark a new yacht show in 2015, and with no exhibitors tents the focus was shifted purely to the yachts and the destination.

Fiona Maureso gave us the full rundown of the elements within the show and across Montenegro that are attracting brokers back to the docks, but for the full story you can catch up with our latest destination discussion here.

Our second industry insight was a design focussed breakdown of what makes the WIDER 150 Superyacht Genesi an innovative new superyacht on the market.

After launching, the layout, style and individual technological breakthroughs have been naturally attracting a younger client. You can find out exactly what these elements are here.

New projects and new launches also emerged this week as the September debut season approaches.

New updates surrounding the exciting construction project of the 50 metre Superconero arrived from CRN this week, with the Ferretti Group also announcing the launch of their first 850 Flybridge yacht.

Another Italian launch report arrived from OTAM this week, who had launched superyacht Gipsy; a 35 metre motor yacht which marks the first launch of the yacht builder’s custom line.

Reports from Dutch yacht builder Moonen Shipyard also announced the delivery the first yacht from their Caribbean range this week in the form of Bijoux from the Matika line.

These reports and discussions are only a scratch on the week in news, and you can catch up with the full story by clicking here.
