Editor's Note: European Style Merges with U.S. Scale
The superyacht calendar is built around two major showcases, the Monaco Yacht Show and the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. Now, these two mainstays are coming together after a brand-new announcement emerged only today.
For over seven years I have visited each yacht show on the calendar, but nothing comes close to navigating the hectic nature of Monaco or the sheer scale of Fort Lauderdale.
Superyachts.com itself turned a huge corner at the 2010 Monaco Yacht Show with the arrival of our first ever Breaking News Centre, which has grown exponentially year on year. Now, to hear that the gravitas of Monaco has merged with the scale of Fort Lauderdale is news that has got our office extremely excited.
Alongside this, not only are these two major yacht shows now under one banner, but Palm Beach International Boat Show and Yachts Miami Beach will be following suit. We look forward to bringing you more on the development, as and when it emerges.
In the meantime, I was lucky enough to head into London this week to discuss another major event on the industry’s calendar for 2017; the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup in Bermuda.
Sitting with Russell Coutts in Trinity House for the launch of Mouton Cadet wine, the official wines of the America’s Cup, I learned all about the upcoming gladiatorial battle as well as a full insight into the superyacht programme which has our industry in something of a frenzy.
All this and more coming very soon, until next week we’ll be bringing you the latest so be sure to keep an eye on our social media feeds across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
