Editor's Note: The Dawn of Superyacht Culture

Taking a look into the evolution of MYS and its hand in creating the ‘Superyacht Movement’ has been engaging to say the least. While the birth of the superyacht community and the luxury yachting culture can be traced back to 1950s Monaco, the MYS is where the trajectory of its future can be found.

You’re welcome to disagree with me, but it’s a truth universally acknowledged that, every September, the entire industry gives these four days everything they have.

This is where ground-breaking announcements, new technologies and the latest launches reflect the trends of the year. It’s a platform for the industry, a hub for owners and precisely where my mind will be for the next few weeks.

Moving from the West Med to the East, we took a closer look at the key attraction factors behind another hotspot, Porto Montenegro.

You can find a breakdown of draws to Owners, Captains, industry and charter guests here, but September will also offer a chance for the brokerage and charter community to visit a different kind of event; the MYBA Pop-up Superyacht Show.

However, I’m getting ahead of myself. August stands firmly in the way of here and then, and over the next month we’ll be busy focussing our energies on both the MYS, and the first of many new projects our team will be launching across the close of the year.

In the meantime, we’ve been taking a look into new projects while we work with Baglietto, CRN, CCN and Tankoa all revealing glimpses into a new world of launches coming over 2018.

You can catch up with the updates from across the industry here, or get in touch with me via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
