Editor's Notes: Week Ending 23/10/2015
We’ve been looking forward to the launch of the WIDER 150 since we first heard about the evolutionary approach taken by the Italian yard. Now she’s been launched, it’s not hard to see how designers, construction experts, engineers and specialist technicians have created something different.
While Project Genesi may now be on the water, the yard is now taking time to ensure that the superyacht is running to the exceptional standard expected from her. “We believe that this can be done in 8-10 weeks but will not rush anything if it means compromising on the quality of the finished yacht,” explains Tilli Antonelli, WIDER Founder. “We will make sure that she is 110% finished before unveiling her in full to the market." Take a look at the unveiling so far in our feature here.
Other new launches of the week include the Feadship superyacht Halo, which has now left the grey of Holland and is heading for warmer waters with her new owner. Speaking of the grey, the third edition of the WallyCento was launched in Hythe in the UK, a fantastic backdrop for sea trials and for a passionate sailor to take hold of the new Wally sailing yacht.
Passionate sailors would have had a great weekend watching the America’s Cup in Bermuda, wherever they were, which provided us with a great spectacle aside from the lack of wind on day one.
