Editor's Note: A Matter of Growth

Through the reports and discussions of the week, it seems that expansion has been a running theme; from the advancement of global brands and annual calendar events to the growth of yachts in the global superyacht fleet.

It started with a discussion with Porto Montenegro Yacht Club General Manager Billy Cañellas. After so much activity had surrounded Porto Montenegro recently - with new investments, residential projects and one of the world’s biggest berths - we wanted to know how all of this exciting movement affected the return of the popular MYBA Pop Up Superyacht Show.

You can read the full interview here, but it appears that the growth of the show is set to attract more yachts and more brokers to a newly established global superyacht hub.

MYBA also came to the fore this week after announcing a new show arriving at Barcelona’s OneOcean Port Vell next year, adding to the portfolio of calendar events for brokers everywhere.

Emphasising the expansion discussion was Engel & Volkers Yachting CEO Anissa Mediouni. The announcement of her appointment as CEO emerged last week, so we naturally caught up with the new figurehead to find out about her expansion plans to push the Engel & Volkers brand further into the yachting sector.

New launches and deliveries may be a tenuous link to the expansion theme, I grant you; however I would be remiss in my duties not to mention the delivery of Dahlak.

After all, it wasn’t too long ago that I was stood at the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia with the Perini Navi Group and Philippe Briand to see Sybaris, and struggling to avoid conversation about the beautiful 38 metre sat right next to her.

You can read my favourite stories of the week in the links above, but in the meantime I’ll be trading Italy for Spain this weekend as we celebrate a momentous occasion for a historic shipyard.

I’ll bring you more information as soon as possible, but until then you can keep an eye on our progress through Instagram (@superyachtsdotcom) and Twitter (@superyachtscom).
