Editor's Note: Activity High While 2017 Approaches
The week in news shows no signs of slowing as 2017 approaches. The winter months have sent superyachts far and wide to kinder climes and industry activity is still prevalent with new projects emerging in force.
The arrival of Feadship’s 96.55m superyacht Vertigo stole the show yesterday, placing a last-minute entry into the Top 100 before the arrival of the 2017 rankings. An incredible debut for the Redman Whitely Dixon exterior and an undeniably distinctive addition to the global Feadship fleet.
We also spoke to builder Fincantieri about the latest project on the market with Horacio Bozzo, Private Bay. This 123m is a revolutionary redefinition of lifestyle with a focus on space, and life by the ground-breaking beach club.
An insight into building a superyacht from a design perspective is a valuable thing, but speaking to an Owner about their pursuit for a new project is something else entirely. J.R. Ridinger sat down with us to talk about the finer points of building and shaping Project Vector, which will soon be called Utopia IV.
Columbus Yachts also offered an insight into a secret project recently commissioned at the Italian yard for an 80 metre fully custom superyacht. With a 70m already in construction, Columbus Yachts is moving further into the large yacht sector with renewed vigour.
Japan was the home of the recent America’s Cup World Series Finale as Fukuoka embraced the spirit of the race and Sir Ben Ainslie and the Land Rover BAR team stole the final bonus points before Bermuda 2017.
A week of disparate updates across the world that nonetheless show the exciting variety of the superyacht industry all year round. We’re looking to China and the East as December descends, so stay tuned for more updates over the holiday seasons.
