Editor's Note: January Sets the Bar High for 2017

At the start of January, the launch of Aviva quickly followed our release of the Top 100 Forecast for 2017. Seven days later and the launch of the 74-metre Cloud 9 continued the trend of milestone launches, only for the launch of Sanlorenzo’s 56-metre Seven Sins to hit the water today. It’s safe to say, 2017 is well-underway.

The highlight stories of the month - bar the incredible launches defining the year as it stands - include design updates and brokerage announcements from around the world.

This week in particular brought us the first new shots of superyacht Y715 underway in Holland thanks to Dutch Yachting, showcasing the flowing, natural designs from the drawing board of Sam Sorgiovanni.

Heesen Yachts began construction on the 56-metre YN 18556 this week, a fully-custom Heesen Yacht which will no doubt bring a new style to the iconic Heesen fleet.

Elsewhere, with the first flagship 52Steel Sanlorenzo now in the water, another announcement emerged from West Nautical highlighting the sale of the third vessel in the evidently popular 52Steel line.

Royal Huisman announced intentions to expand even further - following a move into Germany - with the occupation of the Holland Jachtbouw facilities.

Following boot Dusseldorf, the superyacht events calendar is once again gearing up to showcase the biggest and the best around the world with Dubai and Miami set to fire the starting pistol. Until then, we’ll be bringing you updates surrounding design, launches and insights into the world’s best yachts as and when they emerge.
