An interesting set of announcements have reached the front pages this week, creating a different view in to the industry – from ownership shifts to discussions on topics which seldom arise across the industry.

Camper & Nicholsons reported a new shift in power after the Colosseum Services SA brand took ownership over the global brokerage firm.

“We are now delighted to have new investors committed to growing and developing the Camper & Nicholsons International brand into the future,” explains Camper & Nicholsons International's C.O.O Laurent Perignon. “In particular it is pleasing that our new shareholders have a long and proud history, sharing the same outlook and values that have made Camper & Nicholsons the standard in superyacht brokerage and management services.

The change in management means a new and exciting future for the brand, and we look forward to seeing how Colosseum Services and the Camper & Nicholsons International team use this opportunity.

We also took the time to speak with BVA Auctions this week in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the auction process’ place in the wider superyacht community. Richard Dieteren, Account Manager at BVA Auctions, provided an expert insight into the future of the yacht auction in the run up to the company’s first ever nautical auction.

“This is the first time we will auction a superyacht and it will be the beginning of a series,” explains Richard Dieteren. “Due to the bankruptcy, this is the best way to attract as much potential buyers as possible all over the world! And it is of course a unique opportunity to become an owner of an exclusive superyacht.”

The superyacht auction is a topic which splits industry opinion, yet a process which none the less provides potential new owners an opportunity to enter the superyacht community which may not have presented itself otherwise.
