Editor's Note: A Record Breaking News Centre
Since my first ever Monaco Yacht Show experience in 2010, I’ve watched an industry change and grow; not to mention picking up a few survival tips along the way. But, with the final horns blasting through the Principality, I’m back on the docks once again, signing off on another successful edition of the Monaco Yacht Show.
For most, ‘successful’ is something of a given term when attached to the MYS, but our view from the Breaking News Centre offered up a genuine look at the current landscape of yachting, modern demands and the shift facing everyone’s approach to the people who make all possible; the client.
This is an industry dedicated to the experiences of the few, while keeping an eye of minimising the impact products have on the water. Granted, this is a nascent world-view for the yachting industry which moves at the speed of new technology; but I’ve never before had so many conservation, climate-based and sustainability conversations on the blue carpet.
The vast array of products, the way we communicate and the demands of the client are offering up a world of opportunities to be more creative - and more responsible - than ever, so this is an extremely exciting time to be part of the world’s most fascinating niche industry.
To try and sum up the 80 interviews we’ve produced across the Monaco Yacht Show would be something of a fool’s errand, but I’ll leave it to you to discover the myriad discussions about the changing face of the industry that we can proudly say took place in our interview studio.
In the meantime, that’s it for the team on the ground and I would personally like to say thank you to everyone who joined us in the studio, our sponsors - who, every year, turn our team into a madcap family - and those who came to the stand to catch up over coffee and cocktails.
