Editor's Note: The Pillar of American Yachting Activity

The team is back at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show this week and reports of the 1,500 strong fleet experiencing an influx of visitors, industry and owners is already clear to see. Activity surrounding the American market is seemingly surging onward and the spotlight is on the U.S. like never before.

Walking the show with our film team, we're catching up with friends and colleagues to gain a deeper understanding of the American yachting culture while delivering updates from across the world. After all, this week isn't just about what’s happening on the Las Olas waterways.

You can catch our view from FLIBS here, but as the show breaks stride into day two, we’ve seen some encouraging announcements from Europe this week with two new sales from Italy, and an insight into the giant that emerged from Germany just a few days ago.

After visiting the yard only a month ago, Baglietto announced the successful sale of Hull 10225 this week, a secretive new-build project which measures 54-metres and offered a stylish rendering in lieu of confidential details.

ISA Yachts also came to the fore today as the Ancona yacht builder announced the sale of yet another superyacht project - their third in two months - and, as the nature of the industry goes, could offer no deeper insight than a preliminary sketch that you can find here.

Moran Yacht & Ship teased a few details surrounding the brand-new 98-metre Lurssen (technical) launch of Maui. Hitting the water in the last few days, details are still scarce but we now know that the lifestyle of the 20 guests on board will be an adventurous one; with helicopter hangar and diving room.

I’ll be continuing our look into the FLIBS Fleet this week as the show charges on, adding to the insights of Wabi Sabi, Home and Mine Games, with much more to come. You can catch our insights into the show on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well, however feel free to get in touch with me here if you feel we’re missing anything. Until next week!
