December is finally upon us and the year is drawing to a close. The collective superyacht community has a lot to be proud of looking back over the year, but that’s a story you can expect to see as 2015 gets even closer. For now, the last few weeks in news have shown the slowing pulse of industry activity as the holidays approach – but it has still been an eventful period.

A foundation close to the heart of Superyachts.com earned a well-deserved recognition recently from PEA (People Environment & Achievement) Awards for NGO of the Year. The work of the foundation is of paramount importance as they protect the oceans that mean so much to our industry, more importantly, the world’s health.

We also saw the unveiling of a number of new projects, from eco-friendly and distinctive projects from Arcadia to motor yacht concepts of imposing size thanks to the new Golden Wings concept from Tankoa.

Sticking with a green angle this week, the world of sailing has two new impressive projects to look forward to after Philippe Briand announced another partnership with Perini Navi after Nautor’s Swan reported the sale of the brand-new first-ever Swan 95.

This has not been a dull week, nor is it ever in this industry, but things are undeniably winding down and I for one am looking forward to the holidays – even if it does mean that the dawn of 2015 will be bringing an exciting, yet dauntingly busy, new year.
