Mainline news across this week has covered almost every aspect of the industry’s progression over the year, whether it’s new launches, industry news, latest designs or brokerage success.

Fincantieri made an intriguing strategical move this week after announcing their acquisition of a minor stake in the major brokerage house Camper & Nicholsons.

The investment consolidates the presence of both companies in the large yacht market and confirms Fincantieri’s strategic interest in an area in which it has devoted substantial resources and achieved significant results since creation of the group’s specialty division, Fincantieri Yachts.

Fincantieri’s CEO, Giuseppe Bono, stated: “Acquiring a stake in a company of Camper & Nicholson caliber has a significant strategic value. From today we are among the first shipbuilders to directly oversee the promising megayachts market segment. Our presence will cover the entire range of activities typical for this business, from sales and marketing to life cycle management of these very special units. This partnership will allow us to extend our skills and therefore to further strengthen our role in a segment which guarantees attractive margins”.

In other industry news, the Hainan Rendez-Vous has held an official dinner with media and VIPs to officiate the new date of November 27th - 30th and bring the new era of Asia’s primary luxury yachting and lifestyle showcase.

Latest launches have also taken hold of the news over the last few weeks, with the new Sanlorenzo Scorpion hitting the water alongside the new Overmarine Mangusta 132 as well as new footage emerging of the latest Sunrise Yachts launch Irimari.

While the industry is active, one story was sent to me this week which took a step back and highlighted the superyacht lifestyle. Grace E, the 73 metre Perini Navi motor yacht built in 2013, was photographed arriving in New York before her atlantic crossing.

Not exactly a normal week for news, but excitingly varied nonetheless, and with a number of events taking place in the very near future such as the Dubois Cup and more taking place over the next few months, we have a lot to look forward to so keep an eye on Superyachts.com.
