Editors Comments: Week Ending 12/06/2015

We’ve witnessed yet another week well-received in the eyes of the industry, which has brought with it new-build projects, sales and new insights on board the world’s finest superyachts.

Exclusivity is a word widely used, yet offers little substance in service. To truly gain a grasp on exclusivity, one needs to take a step back from the daily routine and appreciate the lifestyle on board the superyachts we surround ourselves with. The rarities, sourced from around the world, the unique designs and the custom built innovations which offer even more of an unparalleled standard, are the DNA of the creations which emerge from the shipyards at such an impressive frequency.

The most recent example of this disjointed notion is our look on board Rossinavi’s incredible sea-faring specimen, Polaris. It was not so long ago I was asked to judge during the Monaco Yacht Show Awards and, while all candidates were of an incredible calibre, it was Polaris which stood out. The full feature can be found here, and I’m sure you will agree that so rarely a line of superyachts presents itself as a custom one-off creation.

We also had the pleasure of gaining a full insight into a new project this week. I mention this as it is considered something of a rarity to realise all details of a new project so quickly after it’s announcement, as confidentiality is all part of the aforementioned exclusivity of the yacht building business.
