Editor's Comments: Week Ending 03/07/2015

This week we turn our attention to the upcoming MYBA pop-up yacht show set to take place at the Porto Montenegro superyacht marina village in early September.

Over the last few years, Montenegro has become the new superyacht hotspot of the Mediterranean, with its yacht-friendly legislation and rapidly growing infrastructure causing superyachts to flock their all-year-round.

The innovative 3-day pop-up show is the latest effort to capitalise on the country’s burgeoning reputation, and Porto Montenegro’s state-of-the-art facilities will provide an ideal stage for brokers, agents and yachts to gather and do business.

With just two months until the inaugural show, we spoke with Billy Canellas, Business Development Manager for Porto Montenegro, and Fiona Maureso, President of MYBA, to find out more and you can read the full interview in today’s newsletter.

Elsewhere this week, there’s exciting launch news from across the industry. First up, Takoa Yachts have announced the launch of the 69.30-metre motoryacht Suerte, while CRN have announced the preview of three new vessels at this September’s Monaco Yacht Show: the 55-metre M/Y Atlante, 61-metre M/Y Saramour and 73-metre M/Y Yalla.

There’s also sales news from Y.CO who have announced the successful sale of the new Limited Edition 180, while Sunseeker have added to their reputation for creating larger yachts with the sale of the 40-metre M/Y Jelana.

In further news, we bring you a fascinating interview with yacht management experts, while Thailand continues its efforts to become an established superyacht destination by issuing new charter licence rules for foreign vessels.
