Editors Comments: Week Ending 17/07/2015
This week has been overrun with reports surrounding new contracts for brand new superyachts to enter into construction - putting the theory of a pre-event season quiet period to rest.
Fresh on the front pages today was Benetti’s new announcement that it was to begin construction on a new 66 metre superyacht for Mr John Staluppi - a well-known name in the owner’s circle.
Shortly before that, CRN reported the sale of a new Superconero yacht which followed their launch of three new designs and the teaser that three more superyachts will be debuting at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015.
Admiral joined the rising fleet of announcements with a new 75 metre superyacht, the largest of the new-build contracts signed this week dubbed Project 575.
With Italy’s regional new-build order book rising, The Netherlands gained yet another addition in the form of a new 66 metre order for Feadship, introduced by Northrop & Johnson.
Four large announcements in one week before the major events begin is considered an exciting week in this office, and we look forward to finding out more as and when the news emerges.
