This week we had the pleasure of heading down to the south of England to visit the West Nautical team on board the 28 metre motor yacht Firefly, the latest flagship from Mulder Yachts.
It had been a fair few years since I had seen the eerily green waters of Portsmouth, and what better reason to take a trip out of the capital than to see a brand-new yacht with a great story. Not only was this yacht fresh from a three day navigation of numerous countries to find the UK, but her very existence represents a huge step forward for everyone involved in her creation.
This is Mulder Yachts’ largest yacht to date, and something of an evolution for the Dutch yard. The first thing that strikes you is the aesthetic similarities it shares with the exterior profile much larger yachts, but on a smaller scale. I use the term ‘smaller scale’ very loosely, seeing as this is the most volume I’ve seen on a 28 metre motor yacht thanks to her huge beam and fantastic layout.
While this may be a fantastic achievement for Mulder Shipyards, the team attached from West Nautical are also something of a story point. West Nautical are rapidly establishing themselves in the industry, thanks to their approach of harnessing the focussed service I discussed only two weeks ago.
I’ll be taking a closer look into the West Nautical ethos in the coming weeks as I think this is something that should be shared, however in the meantime you can check out our experience on board the Mulder 94 in more detail here.
A huge thanks once again to the West Nautical team for inviting us down and we look forward to bringing you more from the brokerage, charter and management firm in the very near future.
