One of the most prestigious events on the superyacht regatta calendar, the Perini Navi Cup is a biennual celebration of the Italian shipyard’s rich heritage and enduring excellence in the field of sailing yacht design.

This year’s edition gets underway over the next few days and Superyachts.com will be at the docks and on the water, bringing you all the updates across three days of high-octane racing, as well as a full programme of exclusive social events. Be sure to check in with us each day for the very latest, up-to-the-minute news from Sardinia.

Ahead of kick off, in today’s newsletter we preview several of the yachts that will be going head to head in the waters off the coast of Porto Cervo. Among the outstanding vessels competing will be the Maltese Falcon, arguably still the best-known private sailing yacht in the world, as well as the 60-metre Perseus^3, which launched just last year. It promises to be an enthralling three days of action.

Elsewhere this week, news emanating from the superyacht world has been both rich and diverse – unsurprising given that event season is firmly on the horizon. One such event is the first ever MYBA pop-up superyacht show, which takes place in Montenegro next week. We spoke to Billy Canellas, Porto Montenegro’s Marina Business Development Manager, to learn more about the exciting addition to the yacht show calendar.

Provoking similar levels of anticipation is the 2015 edition of the China Rendez-Vous, which takes place in November. This year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever, and with vulnerabilities surrounding China’s economy making headlines in recent weeks, its role as a stimulus for the country’s lifestyle and yachting industries has come into sharp focus. We explore these complexities with a full preview, including interviews with some of the key people behind the event.

There’s also news from Imperial Yachts who are set to bring two significant vessels to this year’s Cannes and Monaco shows, both of which will be enjoying their debut on the brokerage market, while Sanlorenzo will also be present at the flagship South of France shows with two brand new models of their own, including the yard’s first ever steel explorer superyacht.

Camper & Nicholsons are also in the news after confirming the appointment of Paolo Casani as their news president, while there are new launch and construction announcements from Columbus Yachts who have reported significant progress on the construction of their largest ever superyacht.

We look forward to providing you the very latest from Sardinia; as always, it is our privilege. Have a wonderful week.
