Editor's Notes: Yachts Miami Beach 2016 and More
I doubt I stand alone when I say this, but I don’t need another reason to admire the WIDER 150. I was impressed with the initial designs, and yet WIDER continues to reveal amazing hidden details.
I don’t say this for any contrived reason other than I genuinely didn’t realise the depth of innovation on this project at first. Not so long ago, I worked with WIDER Yachts to follow the construction of the 150, and even then I was only seeing the outer layer of what this yacht would eventually become.
Today, the Italian yard unveiled the new beach club - which I admit is not an exciting statement upon first impression - but seeing it is a whole new story. I’m aware that anymore enthusiasm will probably work against my cause here so watch the video and let me know what you think.
In other news, Feadship announced, not only a striking 34 metre launch, but an incredible story of how this yacht - and it's future sisterships - came to be. It's an interesting tale and I recommend reading the story here.
The rebranded Yachts Miami Beach 2016 also opened today and this seems to be an exciting rebirth of the show. Fort Lauderdale, while giant in size, none the less encapsulates the positivity of the American market, and we’re hoping something similar from this show.
You can see the size and calibre of the yachts in the docks by looking at our largest list and our must-see list by following the hyperlinks.
I’ll be keeping an eye on the show - unfortunately from my desk in the frozen heart of London due to a busy schedule - but if you should see something that interests you or just want to tell us your thoughts, feel free to get in touch via press@superyachts.com and say hello.
