Editor's Notes: Black Tip Sharks & Superyachts
While a thousand black tip sharks prepare to add a whole new kind of attraction at the Palm Beach Boat Show in a few weeks, we’ve been working on a number of new series insights for March and it’s shaping up to be an exciting month.
Still, best not to get ahead of ourselves as February is still giving us time to shake off the start of the new year and news of the week has covered a number of exciting announcements to focus on.
The Just J’s delivery from Hakvoort - sold and overseen by Moran Yacht & Ship - is a report which has given new life to the Dutch yacht builder based in an unassuming little village and a fantastic superyacht in it’s own merits. Previously known to the world as Golden Odyssey, this 61 metre is a baffling five-deck themed superyacht with style in droves.
While her delivery is still fresh, details and interiors are still somewhat secret, but I’ll put good money on it that the themes running throughout are worth the wait.
Heesen’s Amore Mio - the largest and most powerful sports yacht ever to be built in the Netherlands - underwent sea trials before being successfully delivered. The shipyard doesn’t exactly have long to bask in the first delivery of 2016 however, as the 70m flagship Project Kometa and the 50m semi-displacement Project Akoya are also set to meet their owners on the water soon.
We took an interesting look at the rugged new Van der Valk superyacht which recently launched and was photographed in Gibraltar today sporting her - what I personally believe to be - very cool look. You can read more about the yacht here.
Until next week, keep the news coming and, in the meantime, watch this coverage of the shark swarm which recently hit Palm Beach if you haven't seen it already.
