Editor's Note: Abeking's New Surf Inspired Superyacht

The launch of the week comes in the form of Abeking & Rasmussen’s new superyacht Cloudbreak, named after a Fijian surf hub which encapsulates the unbridled spirit of this incredible new addition to the global superyacht fleet.

In true form of the Espen Oeino design house, this is a modern, rugged and exciting new exterior styling which builds on previous works such as Ester III. This design is, apparently, seamlessly complemented by her contemporary interiors; however I look forward to seeing if this statement stands to the fact when more details emerge as Cloudbreak is still, understandably, under wraps.

In other news this week the Ferretti Group announced a shift in managerial hierarchy as Lamberto Tacoli leaves the yard to focus on his Chairmanship of Nautica Italiana. This news was then quickly joined by a report surrounding the emergence of a new yacht, the Navetta 42, cementing the Ferretti Group’s continued evolution as one of Italy’s foremost yacht builders.

New sales and projects came into focus this week as Columbus Yachts sold their first Sport Hybrid yacht, construction began on Mulder Shipyard’s largest project to date, Cerri Cantieri Navali announced a new 50 metre project and PHI Yachts - a new brand in the industry - reported commercial strength after launching at the close of 2015.

Next week will see the open day of the 2016 Dubai International Yacht Show, and I’m looking forward to taking a look at exactly what’s on offer across March.
