Editor's Note: A Conceptual Masterclas from Oceanco in Dubai

The highlight of every international boat show is unquestionably the showcasing of newly launched superyachts. But following closely behind is the unveiling of yacht concepts, offering us an exciting glimpse into the future, beyond the here and now of yacht design and construction.

This year’s Dubai International Boat Show kicked off earlier this week, and among the news filtering through is the announcement by Dutch shipyard Oceanco of an exciting new concept project.

The project in question is for a 90-metre vessel currently known as “Moonstone” featuring an impressive array of special lighting effects that give the yacht a truly distinctive appearance when seen by night. You can read more about this eye-catching concept in today’s newsletter.

Nevertheless, there’s no shortage of news on some of the finished products on display in Dubai as well, including Heesen’s 47 Series Asya, and two newly launched vessels from Gulf Craft in the Majesty Yachts brand.

Elsewhere this week, there’s notable brokerage news with Italian yacht builders Benetti announcing the sale of the 70-metre superyacht Project FB270, while Fraser Yachts have confirmed the appointment of Raphael Sauleau as their CEO. Furthermore, brokerage house Y.CO has announced that the owner of the 54-metre sailing yacht “Tiara” is auctioning a one-week charter in aid of charity partner One Drop.

Finally, we report on news that Italian yacht builders CRN have completed their first ever refit delivery, while Porto Montenegro has added a new 250-metre superyacht berth to its burgeoning marina.

Stay tuned for more news from the Dubai, including a round-up of the five largest yachts at the show.
