Editor's Note: An Appropriate Time to Discuss Refit

You will have to forgive the inevitable Easter focus, but with the inundation of genuinely captivating refit news I couldn’t resist the whole ‘new beginnings’ angle.

One of the primary refit interests which reached us this week concerned the complete conversion of an aging Fishing Patrol Vessel from Scotland. Initially known as Norna, the new project measures 71 metres and underwent a major overhaul to become Enigma XK.

This rugged superyacht kept the original feel of the fishing patrol vessel, but benefitted from a completely new purpose as well as a fitting new layout and interior from the designers from Philippe Briand’s Vitruvius design studio.

In other news, the Italian Sea Group have announced the exciting refit projects of Quattroelle and Smeralda. These are two iconic yachts in the global fleet, and while exact refit project details are being closely guarded, it’s a milestone for the Italian shipyard.

Perini Navi, while not a refit, unveiled a major new project in the 70m Sybaris - the second largest sailing yacht ever produced by the Italian yacht builder - and a stunning project fit for the Perini Navi portfolio.

Not the only new sailing yacht on the scene, Sybaris’ update followed the major announcement of Aquijo’s delivery. This is one of the largest sailing yachts in the world, and a first for Oceanco who - in collaboration with Vitters - have put their stamp firmly on the water with two giant masts and a striking profile.
