The 300th Editor's Note: New Launches & New Initiatives
It has been 300 weeks since our first superyacht newsletter was published, and to mark our 300th issue this week we’ve had a great set of announcements to coincide with a milestone for myself and the team.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Stefano Tositti, CEO of BWA Yachting, in Venice with the view of producing a video for the America’s Cup Superyacht Program. After a long and fascinating discussion surrounding a new level of luxury at the world’s most sophisticated, and one of the oldest, sporting events in the world.
We were then lucky enough to help launch this news during a private cinema screening in Leicester Square on Tuesday, and an event, location and style befitting of the news itself. You can see the footage presenting the benefits of the Superyacht Program here - along with the announcement details itself.
The sport itself is reaching a new level of excitement, speed and technology, and the hosting country of Bermuda is matching that advancement in time for 2017. This will be a hugely covered and loved event and we can’t wait to see it progress to next year.
In other news, a number of new launches have emerged this week, presenting four new additions to the global superyacht fleet from Italy and The Netherlands. Two of the most prolific superyacht building nations in the world, Italy’s Benetti, Admiral Yachts and Wally Yachts launched the 45m Domani, 50m Ouranos and 26m Wally Casa respectively.
Heesen, an excellent example of Dutch yacht building expertise, teased the launch of a new 50 metre superyacht Akoya with photos that left us wanting more.
That was the week of our 300th newsletter, and as the Singapore Yacht Show opens today, we’re looking forward to seeing the reports that emerge next week.
