Editor's Note: The British Yachting Community

As the United Kingdom raises a glass for the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, I can’t help but take a patriotic viewpoint on the British yachting community. London is a global business hub, a significant economic and political power, and in my view, an understated hub of superyacht development.

While the builders of the world’s largest and most cutting edge are located in mainland Europe, the United Kingdom acts as one of the main headquarters for brands driving market activity due to the high traffic of global business movement and ultra high net worth individuals.

It’s also an international design capital, home of revered design and naval architecture brands such as Bannenberg, H2 Yacht Design, Winch Design, Dubois Naval Architects, Redman Whiteley Dixon, Ken Freivokh, Tim Heywood, Terence Disdale alongside a legion of up and coming next generation designers.

From designer to owner, The State of Wealth - a recent publication from Camper & Nicholsons in collaboration with WealthX - also highlighted that 11% of all yacht owners are from the United Kingdom, while it also holds 5% of all ultra high net worth individuals across the globe.

To further explain the 76 page report would generate a short novella given the extensive research behind it, however Camper & Nicholsons - among other key global brokerage houses originating from the UK - are all part of the incredible heritage behind the UK yachting community.

However, before I digress any further into this patriotic thought pattern, the core of this message surrounds a timely insight into UK culture on a significant day for the country. The superyacht community as a whole is global, and that is it’s very reason for being.

We’ve recently received announcements from around the world highlighting exciting new launches from Turkey, Italy and, of course, Germany. Ranging from 30 to 104 metres, the new additions to the global superyacht fleet have taken hold of the front pages, click here to take a closer look at the new launches of the week.
