Editor's Note: Sailing Yachts and Sea Trials
Travelling from Italy to Monaco, I’ve been lucky enough to see two polar opposites in the yachting world this week and both firsts in their own right.
In Italy, I was introduced to sailing yacht Sybaris, as well as the entire team of people responsible for her launch.
Standing under the 72m main mast and the 61m mizzen was imposing, and given her size this is a significant first for Italy, but the story behind the yacht’s creation is what’s worth sharing.
You can read the story here, and find out about a stylish yacht with art at its very core, the owner’s long-term vision and take a glimpse at some of the preview renderings from her incredible interior.
Moving from sailing to motor, I met up with the WIDER team in Monaco to take a closer look at the WIDER 150 during sea trials. This 47 metre truly is a next generation superyacht due to the completely different approach taken by designer Fulvio De Simoni and Founder of WIDER, Tilli Antonelli.
I caught up with Tilli to discuss the defining ethos of the WIDER brand (click here to read more), and while I was only on board for the trials, I look forward to sharing more features highlight what makes this quiet, efficient and ultimately stylish superyacht different.
