Editor’s Note: Shifting the Spotlight to Europe
The first-ever MYBA Pop-up Superyacht Show in Barcelona is set to ignite the European yachting calendar next week, with the brokerage fraternity preparing to step on board the latest and greatest superyachts for charter and sale in OneOcean Port Vell.
It’s a new, universally acknowledged truth that Spain is an exciting focus for the superyacht community after government bodies worked to welcome superyachts, instead of repel.
Changes to tax regulations, new and exciting marinas and the re-discovery of the Balearics and mainland Spain brought a renaissance to a Mediterranean hub calling out for the world elite.
Now, with 160-metre berths sold, two mainline marinas welcoming yachts to Barcelona and a world of superyachts on the waters off the coast of Spain, MYBA is hosting a Pop-Up Superyacht Show to celebrate a new era and a new hub.
In other news, new launches continued to power forward with Europe bringing a new set of superyachts to the water across Italy, France and The Netherlands; with Germany seemingly having played its hand over the last few months.
In The Netherlands, Heesen brought the latest superyacht Project Nova to the fore this week as the shipyard launched the first ever Hybrid Propulsion Fast Displacement yacht. Named Home, the latest 50-metre to emerge from the Oss yard is a stunning display of marine design and engineering and an exciting project overall.
Tankoa represented Italy this week as the latest superyacht Vertige completed sea trials and returned to the yard triumphant after surpassing each and every expectation in terms of engineering.
Second to emerge from the Italian ‘silicone valley of yachting’ was CCN’s first-ever fully custom superyacht Elsea. A project which takes the CCN sleek and stylish look to greater lengths with more on board living options than most 50-metres on the water today.
France joined the fold after delivering the fifth FAST FLY 5500 superyacht this week as well as introducing a 24-metre island cruiser to the water in the same space of time; bringing a true return to form for the shipyard.
It’s been a huge week, and subsequent year as it stands, for Europe; with yards bringing new superyachts to the water at blistering rate.
