I have no idea where this year has gone. I know, it’s a cliche statement but one which always hits me square in the face when I find myself surrounded by preparation for the Monaco Yacht Show. This will be my sixth show and, subsequently, sixth run in the Breaking News Centre; however, when you put that against 25 years of the show itself, I’ve got nothing on it.
There’s a reason this is one of the most revered superyacht shows of all time. This four day showcase is a gauge of where the industry has been and where it’s going, offering visitors an unparalleled look at the latest and greatest all in a place which is considered to be the hub of the superyacht lifestyle.
I would have loved to be have been a part of the first ever Monaco Yacht Show, looking in awe from the submersive nature of Monte Carlo at the (comparatively) small yachts on display with no idea what would be gracing the port in quarter of a century.
While it may have been one of the few stylish things to stem from the 90s, this year’s show will be celebrating the 25th installment with a long list of new and cutting-edge yachts merged with a fleet of 120 superyachts to make 2015 one of the finest years in the legacy of the MYS.
I for one am looking forward to seeing yachts like the brand-new Taransay and the world travelled Sherakhan in all their glory, while the rest of the Superyachts.com team widely debates what will take the awards at the opening gala and be crowned the star of the show.
We’re lining up a lot of interviews for the return of the Breaking News Centre and look forward to delivering news to you across the entirety of the show. I would suggest signing up to the newsletter for full access to everything we’ll be publishing, but if you’ve been dedicated enough to make it this far down my editors comments I can call it a safe bet you already have.
The team will be in Monaco from the start of next week, so you can expect up-to-the-minute news, directly from the docks. If you’re in Monaco and want to come check out the Breaking News Centre, give us feedback or just want to say hello, you can find us at the Darse Sud Exterior. Until then.
