Editor's Note: The American Market Issue

It’s been a real pleasure to discuss the ongoing shift across the American market with the interviewees of last week during the 58th Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. We’ve seen a genuine insight into the activity and the reasoning behind it and I couldn’t think of a better way to start The Market Issue than with America.

So much has happened over the last week, and it all started by landing in Miami; prepared for a different kind of feature than our usual previews of yacht shows. Little did I know that I would emerge having learned so much about the United States superyacht sector from experts across both America and Europe.

Still, I can’t say that I’m unhappy to be home. One thing you can’t tell from our Round Up is the sweltering heat and intense climate facing the activity on the docks, so the grey citadel of London is a welcome sight. However, after getting back to the office, it’s been a long haul journey of a different kind as I try to process all of this raw information for you.

So, while we may now have delivered our first ever Market Issue, what I can say is that it doesn’t stop there for America - or anywhere else in the world for that matter. We have so many updates from across the show that are genuinely exciting, and we look forward to providing a twist on those moving forward to December.

Speaking of which, we’re not far from boarding a flight to China. So as far as interesting market discussions go, we’re definitely looking forward to going behind the scenes of the Far East yachting community and seeing exactly what lies ahead.
